How would you define the Christian life? John Calvin said, in summary of a definition of the Christian life that
it is..."cross bearing and self-denial." And those two things are unto the purpose of holiness. Holiness is our
calling as Christians. Our God says that "...without holiness no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12.14). Such
holiness must be pursued. We are to "run in such a way as to get the prize." (1 Corinthians 9.24)
As an aid to such a high calling we wil be studying a book written nearly thirty years ago entitled, "The Pursuit of Holiness".
This excellent book will help our discussions on Thursday evenings. Won't you join us?

How in the history of the world did we come to have so many denominations? How are Baptists different from Episcopalians? What are the characteristics of the Eastern Orthodox? How do Lutherans
differ from the Reformed, and how are they and Presbyterians similar? In this class we will seek to understand how and why
there are hundreds of different denominations in the United States alone, and perhaps thousands world-wide. We will examine
God's Word to find the clues that have led to this situation, and follow the progress (or regress) of history which has brought
us to the current situation. Additionally, we will examine the major teachings or beliefs of the various groups within the
external church noting strengths and weaknesses according to the only Standard which ever is the Word.
This group meets each Lord's Day morning following the Worship service.
