The Word of God
A Church must make a decision regarding what it believes about the Word of God. We believe the Word of God is the
most clear way God has made Himself known to us. It is His self-revelation. In saying that we also believe the
Word of God is without error in the original manuscripts. We call the Bible holy and divine Scripture.
This Word of God fully contains the revealed will of God and all that we need to know for salvation is taught in the
Bible. All ideas, propositions, philosophies, and teachings that go contrary to what God has revealed in His Word are
to be lovingly but firmly rejected.

Confessions
We believe that the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort do rightly summarize the teaching
of the Word of God and are useful in the life of the congregation. These three forms of unity have been in use in Reformed
churches for nearly five hundred years and continue to be a delight to the saints here in Wellsburg.

Church Government
We here at the United Reformed Church practice the Biblical direction of having three offices, namely Minister, Elder,
and Deacon. The Minister together with the Elders make up the consistory, and when the Deacons meet with the consistory
this larger group is called the council.
